Benson Park Playground

Benson Park was once “Benson’s Wild Animal Farm” resulting in some unique and fun features. There is a playground, open space, a pond and walking trails.

First, this is a very stroller friendly park with multiple paved paths circling different areas of the park. We have been many times and I still haven’t seen everything. The playground is the first main attraction after entering from the parking lot.

Benson playground

The playground is made up of a large play structure, toddler play structure, rope pyramid and a unique climbing contraption. There are plenty of slides, monkey bars, a climbing wall and a balance beam. My only note would be that the baby swings are on one side and the big kid swings are on the other, preventing you from pushing kids in different swing types at the same time. The cute spring riders shaped like different bugs were a hit.

Walking Trails

The park’s footprint still reflects its former life as a zoo property. There are stroller-friendly paved paths to wander around, a Big Red Shoe to climb on, and former animal cages. There are also some trails through the woods surrounding the original zoo.
