All the details on Adams Park in Peterborough, NH

Adam’s park is a great destination for a fun day out – especially when the pool and splash pad are open! This large space has a lot to offer.

Adams Park in Peterborough is not just a playground but a much larger recreational development. The actual complex is spread across both sides of the road and looks beautifully maintained. One member of our Mommy, UP! recon team spent the majority of their time watching the park maintenance team do their work. If you have a little who likes tractors and other fascinating machinery, they might get a special show while you’re here!

Adams Park

The larger park includes a basketball court, tennis courts, a seasonal community pool and splash pad as well as a bike pump track, skate park and multiple baseball fields. With all these features, there is a good sized parking lot, though I imagine it gets full when there are multiple games going on.

Adams Playground

Adams Park Peterborough
One of two little-kid-sized structures

The completely fenced playground is very spacious and has a lot of different structures. Pictures really don’t capture it, there are so many twists and turns to explore and random shapes to climb! The space is laid out with two structures for smaller kids on one side and the main structure all the way on the other. If you are managing multiple kids and hang around the toddler structure, it is a little challenging to keep sight of a kiddo playing on the other side.

Climb!

A theme that runs through all three play structures is climbing! One piece that stuck out to me was a slide-shaped part of the toddler structure, but instead of a slide it has steps inside – seemingly there to satisfy the desire to climb up the slide (only much more attainable)! There are random bars and plastic shapes dotted all throughout leaving adventurous kiddos lots of options for how they would like to navigate and make their way across the space.

The main structure is hard to describe and hard to photograph. It starts out looking like your standard design with slides, ladders and wobble bridge but every time you look, there is something new to take in! There are twists and turns and random shapes everywhere. This is a climber’s dream playground! Talk about open ended play, they want all in here! Kids can free climb and design their own ways to navigate around.

Plunked into the middle of all those climbing opportunities is an expansive sandbox with trucks and two installed diggers. There is plenty of room for everyone, whether they want to play together or keep to their own space. The little clubhouse in the middle is where imaginations get to work making restaurants and cooking up endless sand creations.

The majority of the playground is in the sunshine but there is a line of trees between it and the parking lot that provide shady areas over the benches. Outside of the fence is a gazebo with some picnic tables as well as extra picnic tables in full sun.

Stroller-friendly path helps with initial entry into the playground, the rest is woodchips.
