Located in Lee, NH, this New Hampshire seacoast playground is a great spot for a day out or as a rest stop along the way home. If you attend Coppal House Farm’s annual Sunflower Festival, this park is right down the street and a great place to decompress after making your kids smile for endless pictures among the sunflowers.
There is a large parking lot with plenty of space. It might get filled up on game days though, the park is also home to multiple baseball and soccer fields. The play area isn’t fenced but there is nice separation from the parking lot in the design of the landscape.
Playground Features
Little River Park is home to a simple playground featuring the huge sand area of your little one’s dreams. Filled with sand tools and construction vehicles, this area is easily the highlight of the park.
There is also a wooden structure with steps up to different slides. Only a few steps up, it seems like a nice sturdy place for toddlers to practice and figure out how they would like to navigate stairs. It is also just enough for the bigger kids to have fun in the never-ending cycle of up the stairs, down the slide. With three slides to choose from, there is plenty of room for kids to play even though it is a smaller scale structure.
A little distance away from the swings and slides is a classic pyramid rope climber, a basketball court and tennis courts. Both courts are open, not fenced in. This whole park is very open and spacious. You can bring a ball or bubbles to play out in the grass and really run around.
Little River Park’s River Trail
In the forest behind the picnic pavilion is The River Trail. It is a nice easy walk through the woods and down to the rivers edge. This path is not stroller friendly. It is a pretty short distance so if someone needs a lift you won’t be going very far. Make sure you look at the map in the kiosk, there is a fork in the trail!
The kiosk marking the entrance to the trail has information about the area and the different habitats that the path walks through. Our crew chose the trail to the left, going over the bridges and down to the river’s edge. We found a nice bench at the end and had a relaxing snack.
Lee Farmers Market
Little River Park is also home to the Lee Farmers Market. For the 2023 season, the market takes place on the 4th Wednesday of the month (5/24, 6/28, 7/26, 8/23 & 9/27) from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. You might find the parking lot a little busier but it is set up in a space off of the parking lot and separate from the play area/picnic tables. If you do happen to visit during the market, take a walk around and support a local farm!
