A lesser-known playground, this park is just a few minutes north of the popular Circle of Fun playground and would be a great alternative to zip over to instead.
Moore Park playground
The main play structure is moderately sized; it has all the features you would want but in a space efficient package. There is a tube slide and a spiral slide, climbing, a zip line, and a disc bridge. The playground also features a tire swing, merry-go-round, spring riders, some sort of log roll situation, a tunnel, a climbing arch and lots of swings. The merry-go-round is even the old fashioned kind so if you’re wishing your kids can experience the same risky thrills from your childhood, here’s your chance!
My favorite part is the open truck structure – it could be a fire truck, a school bus, a dump truck and so many other things. The open design makes it easy for kids to get in and out, exploring and discovering different ways to play.
There are multiple benches among the fenced play area and it is next to a covered picnic pavilion. The parking lot is for the playground as well as a baseball field. During the season I’m sure the playground and pavilion are much busier during games.
Make it an outing!
Right across the street is the Smyth Public Library. When you need a break from the sun or the cold, take a break to explore some books and then a stroll down to their gazebo overlooking a little pond.
