Great toddler playground in Nashua!
Did you know about this humble toddler playground in Nashua? Tucked into a quiet neighborhood off of the busy RT101A, this is a great spot to meet up with little friends or shake out the sillies during a day of errands. Epic parks with all the bells and whistles are great, but sometimes it is nice to keep things a little simpler.
Installed in 2018, the wooden structures are showing some cosmetic wear from harsh New Hampshire weather and everything felt sturdy and safe during our visit. I’ll be honest, from a distance it gave me splinters vibes but none of the crew had any trouble so I kept it to myself!
Toddler-Friendly Wooden Play Structure
While the main structure isn’t specifically tiny – older kiddos could have fun on it too – I like this as a toddler playground because there is nothing that was too risky for my taste. (Everyone has their own tolerance level for risk, you do you!) The climbing wall section was do-able for a novice because it is slanted and short. Straight up and high means a grown-up is probably there as a spotter – slanted and short means mama is sitting in the shade! There are also stairs on the other side so they can do the endless stairs-slide-stairs-slide-stairs-slide to their heart’s content.
Older siblings along for day will still find ways to play here too. There are lots of ways to climb and monkey bars to conquer. The monkey bars aren’t toddler height so no one’s little one is going swinging without warning.
Toddler-led Play
This little clubhouse was an instant draw to imaginative kiddos. There are a few spots around to kick off pretend play for those littles who are more comfortable on the ground, with plenty of room for running and exploring.
Toddler Playground with a Toddler Rope Climber
And to drive home the toddler-friendliness, the classic pyramid rope climber here is smaller than the typical ones you see around. Plus, the climbing area stops short of the top and there are inserts to help newbies find their way. Do you have one of those fearless littles who see the big kids doing stuff and so they are determined to do it too? I feel like this was designed for those kiddos – now they can conquer the pyramid just like the big kids! Or at least get some practice in.
The Digger
These diggers have such a rough time at playgrounds, but I am happy to report that this one was not broken and was fully functional when we visited. Work those muscles!
Thorton Road Tot Lot Swings
This toddler playground in Nashua has both bucket swings close to the action and typical swings a little further back closer to the road.
Thorton Park is Fenced-ish
Thorton Park is fenced all the way around, though it is not gated. The type of fence separating the park from the road and parking lot is a classic split-rail style. If you have a runner intentionally booking it towards the street, I’m thinking you are still running after them here. That said, the play area is all set away from the street. It is surrounded the rest of the way by solid privacy fences and tucked into the mature trees of the neighborhood.
Playdate Picnic Destination
This Nashua toddler playground has two picnic tables, including this nice covered one. The park has lots of trees so you have a good chance at shade as well. The tables are also conveniently placed so that anyone sitting is strategically between the play area and the road.
