Wasserman Park is a large wooded park located in Merrimack, NH. Along with the playground there are walking trails, a dog park, tennis courts, ball fields and a community garden area. There are many different events and recreation programs run here as well. At the bottom of the hill is a beach that is restricted to Merrimack residents only.
Summer Programming
This park is the home-base for many of Merrimack’s Rec programs and the playground is a short walk up from the beach so you should expect it to be pretty busy in the summer months; Both on the playground and around the park in general.
Wasserman Park’s Playground
Preschoolers Play Structure
Tucked off to the side of the playground and closer to the shady benches is the smaller structure of the two. The design looks geared to preschooler age with slides, tunnels and pretend-play interactive elements.
It is totally doable for a little one to explore a bit – even a tiny crawler could navigate up the stairs (on the side not pictured), through the tunnel, across the platforms and down the curly slide on the other side.
The Main Play Structure
This giant is what makes Wasserman Park one of the bigger playgrounds in the area. It’s got slides, it’s got climbing walls and ladders, it’s got a bridge, it’s got monkey bars, it’s got a wobbly balance beam, it’s got wobbly lily pads, and it’s got a criss-crossed see-saw that goes squ-eeeeeek!
There are stairs on the side that make it possible for pre-climbers to navigate up to these slides.
Wasserman Park Photo Op!
If you’ve got three kids, this three-tier slide is an awesome spot to grab the same photo over the years. Bonus: If you have two kids with one on the way, take one now and then another with baby completing the crew!
The Climbing Wall at Wasserman Park
A unique feature to Wasserman Park, this huge climbing wall is a thing to behold! Bring your climbers to get a real taste of moving around on these little holds. It is even double-sided, can you go up and over?! Let me know how you do! Spoiler Alert: I could not.
The Swings at Wasserman Park
Wasserman park has bucket swings, typical swings and accessible swings to choose from. In a very nice touch, there are two typical swings next to the bucket swings. If you have a baby and a little, it actually is possible to be with/push both of them at the same time. (Thank you Merrimack Parks & Rec!) All the rest of the swings are on the other edge of the playground.
This photo is also a good place to note that the supervisory-views on this playground are pretty good. Except for occasional blind spots caused by the slides, a grown-up standing on the edge can keep an eye on everyone running around.
The Parking Situation
In the park there are two main parking lots with plenty of parking, but none of it is conveniently close to the playground. This is a “Bring Everything With You” situation so load up that stroller or wagon to ensure no hat is left behind!
