Each time we visit, I am in awe of how beautiful it is here. It feels like such a vast space, but right here in Hollis!
Parking
When you arrive at the trailhead there is a large dirt parking area. It is off the street enough that you can get everyone loaded and unloaded without feeling like you’re in peril! There are two trails that lead off from there, the one on the west side (Dam Road) is stroller friendly and the one on the east side with the Beaver Brook kiosk (Wildlife Pond Loop Trail is not. At the start of the Dam Road trail there’s a cable across the path but I’ve gotten my stroller under it and it is easy to go around when its not muddy.
Dam Road trail
This trail is wide and flat, perfect for an easy walk or a jogging stroller, it is less than .5mi down to the pond area. It strikes me as a nice option for a new mom to stretch her legs as baby sleeps in the stroller. Relax on the bench, get some fresh air and you’re only minutes from the car if you need to abandon ship! Many of the paths leading away from the pond area are also stroller friendly at least for a good stretch.
We followed the Jeff Smith trail around the edge of the pond and went over to the land bridge in the middle. Its a great view of the pond, especially in the summer when everything is blooming and animals are busy! NOTE: This is as far as the stroller goes this way, as soon as you cross the bridge its much more of a hiking trail.
There are lots of different trails that you can access around the pond. Check out Beaver Brook’s trail map for more options. I have found that the green trails – meaning bikes are allowed – tend to be pretty easy to navigate with a jogging stroller.
